They revamp the car into a more advanced version than Deven's original design, and Raj decides to rename it DC to honor his father's memory.ĭeven's spirit possesses the car and controls it to seek revenge on his murderers. Raj works with Kartar Singh to repair and upgrade the car in memory of his father. He pools money and buys it at 5000 rupees. One day, he discovers his father's older car Taarzan. Raj also works as a part-time mechanic at a garage owned by Kartar Singh. Twelve years later, his son Raj, now a 22-year-old boy goes to college where he falls in love with Priya, a rich girl. The car is pushed into a river, causing a gagged Deven to die. He, along with Rakesh and his cronies, attack Deven, gag him and lock him in his car. However, the police inspector Sanjay Sharma who takes his case is secretly on Rakesh's payroll. This infuriates Deven and he files a complaint with the police. However, they steal the design and registered it under their own name. FourFox executive Rakesh Kapoor and his partners Kailash Chopra, Anthony D'Costa and Mahesh Saxena praise the design but disagree over royalties. Deven meets FourFox, a private company to discuss his design. He also owns and maintains an older Morris Minor car that was handed down to him by his late father that he calls "Taarzan", based on the car's mirror ornament that resembles Edgar Rice Burroughs character Tarzan. He names this design as DC (Dilip Chhabria). This also marked the debut of Ayesha Takia, for which she won the Filmfare Best Debut Award.Īutomobile engineer Deven Chaudhary, who lives with his mother Suhasini and ten-year-old son Raj, builds a futuristic car with advanced features. It is loosely based on the American film Christine (1983). Upon release, the film was a box office disaster but gained popularity among children and television audiences. The film stars Ajay Devgn, Vatsal Sheth and Ayesha Takia, while Farida Jalal, Pankaj Dheer, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Amrish Puri, Shakti Kapoor, Gulshan Grover and Mukesh Tiwari play supporting roles. For the 8 long years the Taarzan wasn’t in the news, today all that I found is this abandoned picture of ‘Taarzan – The Wonder Car’.Taarzan: The Wonder Car, or simply called Taarzan, is a 2004 Indian Hindi-language supernatural action thriller film directed by Abbas–Mustan. 35 lakh for 15 year old vehicle, again we aren’t sure if it has found any buyers. And later in 2006, the Taarzan was again-up for sale in ebay asking a price of Rs. We are not sure, if DC design has managed to sell it or not. It was second model based on the MR2 platform and was out for sale at a whooping cost of Rs. It took the team eight months to design and produce Taarzan. The car was back on DC’s drawing board, and re-designed start from scratch. The Infidel formed the basis for a slightly more exaggerated creation of the same car in 2004, the Taarzan. For me, even today DC Infidel looks like a thoroughbred sportscar and is one of DC’s best creations. This car was first re-modelled and showcased at the 2002 Auto Expo in New Delhi, in the form of the DC Infidel showcasing DC’s design capabilities to the Europeans especially. The car was based on a Toyota MR2 (1991 model) with a mid-engined, rear-wheel drive layout and a full cab-forward design. India’s own automotive design house, DC Design had first unveiled ‘Taarzan – The Wonder Car’ on 15 th July, 2004 a month ahead of movie release.
